Perth Obstetrics and Gynaecology Specialists (POGS) is a well established specialist group practice that provides high quality patient centred care in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. 

POGS was started in MtLawley, Perth, in 2011 by  Dr Ana Perkovic, Dr Patrick Wu and Dr Pierre Smith with Dr Patricia Wong joining in 2020 and Dr Alana Pountney in 2023. Together, we have delivered more than 6000 babies and performed countless gynaecological procedures.

There is a POGS specialist  on call  24 hours a day, 7 days a week. POGS operate a unique group practice model where all  gynaecology and obstetrics patients can choose their preferred doctor and Obstetric patients get to meet all the doctors on the on-call roster prior to the birth. We understand how special every pregnancy and childbirth is and will do our best to support you to have the birth you want. It is our job to ensure that we have healthy mother and baby at the end of this journey and will work with you to achieve both. Our group practice model ensures that even when you own doctor is not on duty, it is likely that you will know the doctor that is covering. It also gives us more flexibility to give women the time they need in pregnancy and labour because there are trusted colleagues to provide support.

Our specialists work alongside a dedicated team of midwives and administrative staff who make women feel welcome, supported and safe throughout their pregnancy journey.

POGS  midwives are essential members of our team and provide a vital and unique input and perspective into pregnancy care, childbirth and post-natal care. Our midwives are on duty in our practice every day of the week from 8 am to 5 pm to take calls and consult with our patients. They provide education, pregnancy assessments, perform CTGs (fetal heart rate monitoring), assist with breastfeeding, do vaccinations, provide support, advise, answer questions, and complement the services provided by our specialists. Another benefit of POGS is that there is always a doctor in our clinic during office hours.

POGS reception staff are also part of our patient care team. We rely on them and they understand how important their role as first contact with patients is. They will treat you with respect, listen to you and find a spot if urgent visits are requested. If one is not available they will discuss your situation with our midwives or doctors. We have to give priority to existing patients so urgent appointments for other patients are limited.

POGS make private Specialist Obstetrics and Gynaecology care more accessible. We offer affordable rates, minimise out-of-pocket expenses where possible and are fully transparent with our fees and charges. There are no added costs for high risk pregnancies. There are discounts for women having there third and fourth babies with POGS.

POGS is situated at Subiaco Clinic Suite 302, 7 McCourt street, Subiaco. Our Specialist Obstetricians  deliver babies at SJOG Subiaco. Gynaecology surgery is done at SJOG Mt Lawley.
