Our Obstetrics Services

POGS is a friendly and committed obstetrics and gynaecology practice dedicated to caring for women during pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period. Our team of four specialist obstetricians, midwives and reception staff ensure that each expectant mother and her partner feel welcome and relaxed, knowing they are in safe hands. We focus on treating every woman with respect, as an individual, and listening and responding to her wishes, questions and concerns. 

With over 13 years in operation and more than 6000 babies delivered, POGS is owned by our highly skilled, experienced and committed doctors - Dr Ana Perkovic, Dr Alana Pountney, Dr Pierre Smith and Dr Patrick Wu.  We work as a group practice with a specialist in our consulting rooms every day of the week and a specialist on call 24 hours a day 7 days of the week. Women have the option to meet all the obstetricians on the on call roster.

Our team is committed to providing guidance and support to ensure your experience is as stress-free and enjoyable as possible. We aim to make every family feel comfortable and have the birth experience they desire.

Unfortunately things do not always go as planned and we are very aware or our responsibility to ensure that as far as humanly possible, a healthy mother and baby.

Our services include:

- Pre-pregnancy counselling, investigation, genetic testing, treatment

- Ovulation induction with oral medication

- Management of early pregnancy complications e.g. miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy

- Cervical cerclage for cervical incompetence

- Antenatal care, genetic carrier screening, diabetes management 

- Intrapartum care - vaginal delivery, instrumental delivery, caesarean section, VBAC

- High risk obstetrics - previous pregnancy complications, multiple pregnancy, diabetes, hypertension, pre-eclampsia, other medical conditions

- Caesarean sections when indicated e.g. low lying placenta, previous caesareans or on maternal request

- Postpartum care, breastfeeding support, emotional support, contraception

We consult at St John of God Subiaco Clinic and deliver babies at SJOG Subiaco Hospital.

We also offer a range of gynaecological services.
